  • Former basketball coach Tom Crean will speak as keynote at the 37th Winged Foot Scholarship Banquet on May 7 at the Ritz-Carlton Tiburon Resort, honoring 15 high school athletes from Collier County with scholarships up to $10,000.   • A striped mud turtle is recovering at the Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife, Inc. after a local found it with a broken shell; CROW vets removed the dead shell and began antibiotic and silver honey treatment, and they hope to release the turtle back into the wild soon.  ABC7

HEALTH NEWS

  • According to the CDC, flu cases nationwide have surged by nearly 33% and remain very high in Florida. Local health officials advise residents watch for symptoms such as fever and body aches and recommend flu shots available at pharmacies, urgent care centers, or community clinics (often free with most insurance).  Naples Daily News
