  • Barry Manilow has rescheduled his concerts at the Hertz Arena in Estero to March 16 + 17 after doctors found a cancerous spot that required surgery, and he posted on Instagram that he is feeling better.  ABC7
  • Naples residents have a busy weekend with Pete Lee doing standup at Off The Hook Comedy Club (Jan. 15 to 17), the 21st Rookery Bay Festival of Birds with nature activities from Jan. 16 to 20, and Southern Fried Swamp Jam live on Jan. 17 at Seminole Casino Immokalee.  Naples Daily News
  • Gulfshore Opera opens its season with a playful Shakespearean concert on Jan. 20 at St. Leo Auditorium. The series continues with a capstone performance, In the Voice of Shakespeare, on Jan. 23 at Daniels Pavilion and features opera & Broadway tunes that bring the Bard to life.  WGCU

  • The Collier County Clerk’s annual Passport Saturday will be held Saturday, Jan. 31, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Heritage Bay Government Services Center (15450 Collier Blvd) near Naples, and residents needing a first-time passport or renewal after 15 years should bring required documents.  Coastal Breeze News
  • Yesterday, Florida lawmakers introduced a bill to ban all public smoking (including vaping) amid a report estimating that smoking costs average Floridians over $3.8 million in a lifetime; the study calculated expenses from out-of-pocket costs, lost opportunities, health care, and income loss.  Naples Daily News
  • Motorists face multiple roadway closures along I-75 and Collier Boulevard as FDOT works on a $97 million interchange project; detours are in place until Jan. 16 and work is scheduled to finish by year's end.  Coastal Breeze News
