  • Naples philanthropist Rosario S. Cassata donated 175 LifeVac airway clearance devices to YMCAs statewide during a Jan. 15 press conference in Naples — a move to equip 150 facilities across 16 associations and boost safety for over 1 million children, families, and staff.  Florida Weekly

  • Chef Michael Mina has opened Acqua Bistecca at Saltleaf Marina in Bonita Springs. The waterfront restaurant serves Italian-inspired seafood, steaks and handmade pastas and offers views of Estero Bay while opening for dinner at 5 p.m. daily.  Naples Daily News

  • The Great Wolf Lodge in Naples will host an expert talk on pythons and dolphins on Jan. 28, from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Python hunter Amy Siewe and dolphin expert Bob McConville will share behind-the-scenes footage and stories about invasive species and native wildlife.  News-Press

  • The Lee County Sheriff's Office announced a new partnership with Family Initiative, Inc. to improve interactions with people with developmental disabilities by enabling deputies to consult licensed clinicians (via its Community Response Unit) and use Golden PAWS K-9 teams, while families add loved ones to the Special Persons Registry.  NBC2

  • A recent article explained that burping a home means briefly opening windows to let stale air out and fresh air in; residents are advised to do so for 5 to 15 minutes during drier periods when humidity is lower, reducing moisture buildup and mold risk during cooler fall and winter.  News-Press
