  • The Alliance for the Arts will host an Arts & Culture Town Hall on Jan. 29 at FGCU’s Bower School of Music & the Arts where panelists discuss access to art, community collaboration, and creative careers, with networking starting at 9:30 a.m. and the panel at 10 a.m.  WGCU

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Sanibel Fire Rescue District announced a strict burn ban after Lee County commissioners approved the measure Tuesday amid extremely dry conditions that ended the island's beach campfire season early + all current campfire permits have been revoked; grills may still be used provided they are attended.  ABC7

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • City officials invite residents to share ideas at an open house on Jan. 29 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Sugden-Gomez Center + Baker Park as they update the parks and recreation master plan.  ABC7
  • Organizers canceled the annual parade due to rising security costs after city fees and barricade expenses surged, with Naples Police noting that updated measures (increased staffing and barricades) are essential for public safety amid evolving threats. Parade organizers have yet to decide whether to revive the event.  Naples Daily News
