  • Skillets restaurants in Collier County donated $8,800 to support children and families at the Collier Children's Advocacy Center. The funds were raised through customer contributions and matching donations at in-restaurant jars in 2025, adding to over $123,000 raised over 13 years.  ABC7

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Brooklyn Dough, a family-owned bagel shop in Trinity Plaza, offers fresh New York-style bagels and creative flavors Tuesday through Sunday — co-owner Kathy Moran said the busy shop supports local vendors and draws regulars with its New York-inspired mural.  WINK News

  • TheatreZone's production of Gutenberg: The Musical will open tomorrow at TheatreZone in Naples and run until Feb. 15. Larry Alexander + Adolpho Blaire will star in a fast-paced, comedic show that uses a trunk of baseball caps to highlight their creative performance.  ABC7
  • Fifth annual Nash to Naples Songwriter Fest took place on Saturday, Jan. 24 in Cambier Park - a sold-out event that raised funds for nonprofits including Home Base to support veterans.  Florida Weekly

EDUCATION NEWS

  • FGCU is sending a select group of students to work at Super Bowl LX in California this week to gain real-world experience — they will work closely with industry professionals and celebrities to build practical skills.  NBC2

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Tuesday, beachgoers spotted three dead sharks on Tarpon Beach after water temperatures in the low 50s stunned marine life washing ashore across Southwest Florida (from Marco Island to Sanibel). Marine scientist Dr. Rick Bartleson said some animals might recover if quickly returned to water.  ABC7
  • Sand restoration is underway at Tigertail Lagoon and Sand Dollar Island on Marco Island to maintain nesting habitats and storm protection per state permit requirements, with Hideaway Beach Tax District funding the project ahead of bird and turtle nesting seasons.  NBC2
