- ➤ Retired FDNY firefighters are hosting a comedy show fundraiser to raise money for an FDNY fire truck on Monday, Mar. 16 at 7 p.m. at the VFW hall on Neffs Way near Pine Ridge Road in Naples — tickets cost $40 and include one free drink. Naples Daily News

- ➤ Gas prices in Naples reached $3.58 a gallon on Monday after a 4.8 cent rise from Sunday as national surges in oil costs push up fuel prices. Experts expect prices to approach $4 soon given continued increases in wholesale crude costs. Naples Daily News

- ➤ Protected sea turtles begin nesting today along Southwest Florida beaches; officials remind beachgoers that touching hatchlings (or using flash photography from less than 10 feet) is illegal and can harm the animals. Call FWC if a turtle appears distressed. News-Press
- ➤ A small whale was found in shallow waters on Monday along the Gulf in Pelican Bay. Deputies responded at 12:27 p.m. and are working with wildlife experts to rescue the animal. NBC2
