Good morning, Naples. Here's your local news at a glance for Wednesday, the 26th of March.

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Two Meatballs in the Kitchen will expand its Italian restaurant concept into Naples soon to occupy the space of The Warehouse Cuisine & Cocktails, which permanently closed March 19 after nearly eight years on Immokalee Road east of Collier Boulevard. The restaurant will operate in a 5,400-square-foot building at 9010 Bellaire Bay Drive + co-owner Franco Russo said they are eager to bring their new location to the community.  WINK News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On Tuesday, Collier County commissioners rejected a 350-foot communications tower near the Skunk Ape Research Headquarters in Ochopee after receiving over 2,000 petition signatures and strong objections from Native American, environmental and local business groups—officials now plan to work with the federal government to find an alternative for the current tower site. This decision comes amid concerns over deforestation, wildlife impact and community health risks.  ABC7

HEALTH NEWS

  • Local dentists in Collier County are offering free dental screenings for children with a sweet tooth this weekend. The events are scheduled for Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon at several community locations—Boys and Girls Club at the Bolch Campus, NCEF Pediatric Dental Center, and Golden Gate Library.  WINK News
  • Lee Health is filing a lawsuit to keep the Golisano Children's Health Center open in Naples at the corner of Pine Ridge Road and Livingston Road and to ensure that children in Lee and Collier counties continue to receive the care they need. The lease will end next Friday, April 4, if Miami-based Nicklaus Children's Hospital does not honor Lee Health's lease after its switch to a private nonprofit—this dispute could force families to travel outside Collier County for specialized treatment.  NBC2
