- ➤ A 17-year-old from Collier County was hurt and is in the hospital after he was stabbed and run over while trying to protect a 14-year-old girl at a McDonald's on Collier Boulevard and Immokalee Road — 20-year-old suspect Hayden Retherford now faces nine felony charges — and police continue investigating the incident. - ➤ Today, the Florida Forest Service is fighting a 5-acre brush fire off I-75 south of Immokalee Rd near Jonquil Circle that threatens four homes and is slowing traffic — four tractor plows, aircraft and local firefighters are working to contain the blaze. Fox 4
- ➤ Crews contained a 6-acre brush fire near mile markers 109 and 111 on Interstate 75 in the Wilshire Lakes Community on March 26—causing neighborhood evacuations, heavy smoke, and delays on the interstate. News-Press

- ➤ Collier County Transportation Management Services Department is holding an open house style public meeting today at North Collier Regional Park—Exhibit Hall to review the six-lane Airport Road Widening Project that will improve traffic and safety between Vanderbilt Beach Road and Immokalee Road.
