  • Artemis II launched Wednesday night at 6:24 p.m. from Cape Canaveral with weather 80% favorable despite thick clouds and gusty winds. Viewers along the Gulf Coast saw the rocket about 40 seconds later (some coastal spots experienced brief showers) while temperatures stayed in the low 80s.  NBC2

BUSINESS NEWS

  • On March 31, a contract dispute between Comcast and Scripps caused a blackout of major network channels in seven Florida markets, affecting viewers including those watching the Panthers game in Miami. Comcast said it is working on fair pricing and terms to restore programming as soon as possible.  News-Press

  • Southwest Florida museums feature 35 art exhibitions this April, with five openings, four closures, and 26 ongoing shows. The Sarasota Art Museum highlights the art scene as it opens 'Something Borrowed, Something New' on April 19, running until September 27.  WGCU

  • Gov. Ron DeSantis visited Grouper & Chips in Naples on April 1 to spotlight its 32-year history and popular grouper sandwich in his dining series.   • South Seas resort owners bought the 22-acre Rauschenberg property on Captiva Island on March 31. The buyers plan to integrate 10 buildings into the resort and honor the artist's legacy with future art programming.  WGCU
  • Casa San Juan Diego is breaking ground in Immokalee, adding 80 affordable housing rental units for residents earning up to 60% of the median income—development by the Diocese of Venice and National Development of America will finish the project by early 2027.  WINK News
