BUSINESS NEWS

  • A new Costco may be built at the intersection of Collier Boulevard and Rattlesnake Hammock Road in Collier County, and residents voiced strong opinions at a Naples neighborhood meeting in February—some worried about noise and traffic while others expressed support. Most expect the concerns to ease as people adjust to the changes.  ABC7

CRIME NEWS

  • Three teenagers—two 13-year-olds and one 14-year-old—were arrested on Sunday for attacking a 24-year-old woman dressed as the Easter Bunny at Coastland Center Mall, and the woman was not injured.  Fox 4
  • Cape Coral man Ludovic Laroche was sentenced today to 30 years in prison and must repay nearly $1 million after he defrauded Haitian church members and Creole radio listeners with false real estate and taxi service investments—State Attorney General announced his conviction.  News-Press

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Conservancy of Southwest Florida will host its annual Earth Day Festival on April 12 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 1495 Smith Preserve Way in Naples—this free, family-friendly event will feature food trucks, craft activities, science shows and animal encounters with local partners.  NBC2

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Starting May 7th, 2025, every Florida resident over 18 will need a REAL ID-compliant driver's license (with a gold star) or a valid passport to board commercial flights. Those who renewed their ID since January 2010 are already compliant, while others must visit a local driver's license center with original documents and pay the required fees.  News-Press

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • In Naples, Zach Bingham of the Old Vines Supper Club talked with Gulf Coast News about pink wines, explaining that rose is not one-dimensional and can be made through blending or maceration. The supper club will host events in April including a wine dinner series on April 9 and a Many Shades of Rose tasting event on April 21 from 6 to 8 p.m.—additional tastings are planned for later this month.  NBC2
