  • On Saturday morning, 85 Southwest Florida veterans boarded the Collier Lee Honor Flight for a round trip to Washington, D.C.—they honored fallen friends at the Vietnam Wall and shared heartfelt memories of their service.  WINK News

CRIME NEWS

  • A man was stabbed in the chest on Sunday night on Martin Street—Carolina Avenue in Naples Manor, and he was taken to Gulf Coast Medical Center in Fort Myers as authorities investigate the incident.  WINK News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Naples Airport Authority has boosted its green efforts by offering UL94 unleaded fuel and a sustainable jet fuel from biomass to help flight schools and tenants get cleaner fuel. The airport is also using electric ground vehicles—like Ford Lightning trucks—and preserving land for the Gordon River Greenway while testing soil, water and air to keep them safe.  Naples Daily News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Collier County was created on May 8, 1923 and its first courthouse moved around Everglades City until 1928 when a two‐story building was built for $25,000. Conflicts among Naples, Immokalee and Everglades residents led to a new courthouse built in East Naples from 1961 to 1962—later expanded with a 2007 annex and celebrated during a centennial reception in 2023.  Naples Daily News

HEALTH NEWS

  • Golisano Children’s Hospital earned its Certified Autism Center status in 2024 and now offers a sensory-friendly ambulance, sensory rooms and the SEA STAR program to help children with autism — a move that supports early diagnosis and treatment during Autism Acceptance Month. The hospital partners with the Naples Children & Education Foundation to provide autism navigators — trained aides who help families access care at no cost.  Naples Daily News
