  • Alexander Demooy, 38, from Naples won $1 million after buying a $50 500X The Cash Scratch-Off ticket at Publix on Monday—he received a lump sum of $640,000 and the game still offers a top prize of $25 million—while the lottery confirms scratch-offs make up most ticket sales.  Naples Daily News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Conservancy of Southwest Florida has released its new Wetland Loss Storymap, which uses data to compare wetlands from 1999 and 2023 — showing large losses in Lee and Collier Counties.   • Lee County enacted a burn ban Tuesday due to extremely dry conditions—campfires, bonfires, and trash burning are banned while grilling remains allowed as officials declared a State of Local Emergency after Monday’s drought index hit 612. Officials coordinated the measure with fire chiefs and the Florida Forest Service and will monitor conditions before lifting the ban.  ABC7
