- ➤ On April 17, Florida education officials in Naples blocked introductory sociology courses from counting toward general education at all state colleges (extending a similar ruling for universities), saying the courses have shifted from education to indoctrination. News-Press

- ➤ At 9 a.m. April 17, state officials reported that 82 wildfires burned almost (7,800) acres across Florida, including one near I-75 at Mile Marker 98 in Collier County, and local agencies urged residents to follow burn bans to stay safe. Naples Daily News

- ➤ Florida residents can search for unclaimed property for free by visiting FLTreasureHunt.gov, where records from March show millions returned from uncashed checks and forgotten accounts in areas including Fort Myers (Naples).
