BUSINESS NEWS

  • Florida Publix stores are closed today for Easter—one of only three days each year the chain shuts its doors to let associates spend time with family. Stores normally open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily, and the chain has more than 870 locations statewide.  Naples Daily News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The USPS started changes to save money that may slow mail delivery in Naples and other areas, with new service standards for First Class Mail, Periodicals, and packages expected to save billions over the next ten years. The plan cuts 10,000 jobs through a voluntary retirement program and more shifts will roll out on July 1 — which may affect delivery times for some residents.  Naples Daily News
  • Hundreds of protesters gathered outside the Collier County Courthouse on Saturday during the Say No to Tyranny rally to call for change and protect democracy—cars honked and supporters waved flags and signs. Congressman Byron Donalds said he will hold a town hall meeting Monday in Estero so citizens can ask their questions—many worry about the state of democracy.  Fox 4

SPORTS NEWS

  • On April 18, the Everblades beat the Icemen 3-2 in overtime when Alex Kile scored the game-winning goal at 1:05 p.m. after Florida rallied from a 2-1 deficit—Everblades goalie Cam Johnson made 31 saves while Jacksonville’s Matt Vernon faced 49 shots.  Naples Daily News
