On May 5th, the Marco Island City Council heard an unsolicited proposal from EarthWerks Land Improvement and Development Corporation to form a Public-Private Partnership for dredging canals to improve water quality — the council voted to authorize an independent technical review by an external engineer with study costs paid by the proposers. The proposal, which includes a dredging cost of $60 million, is posted on the City’s website.
