- ➤ Naples Zoo announced a new Toco Toucan chick (Mango) hatched in early April ahead of Mother’s Day. The first toucan chick hatched at the zoo will be on display daily as part of its ongoing wildlife conservation efforts. WINK News

- ➤ Naples Airport has launched a $25.4 million project to add 1,080 elevated, watertight lights (set 20 inches above ground to fend off storm surge) and rebuild its electrical vault to withstand flooding; construction is expected to last 20 months. NBC2
- ➤ State and federal officials are in preliminary talks about closing Alligator Alcatraz in the Everglades due to high operating costs and environmental harm, and environmental groups like Friends of the Everglades welcome the move.
