- ➤ The Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission is proposing a three-week hunting season that will allow trophy hunters to use hounds, bait and bows to hunt black bears. A poll shows 81% of voters oppose the hunt—experts warn the plan may harm the state’s small bear population. Naples Daily News
- ➤ During a sunset tour Friday night, Nick Schwartz found a dead hawksbill sea turtle on Big Hickory Island—he immediately called FWC to report it. A young biologist later confirmed a similar turtle was reported on the same beach, and Schwartz noted a dead manatee was also found weeks ago—urging water users to protect local marine life. NBC2
