- ➤ SWFL Inc. honored Southwest Florida’s top business and community leaders on May 12 at Hyatt Regency Coconut Point during its sold-out INCredible Awards event, with Owen-Ames-Kimball Co. named Small Business of the Year and Dr. Larry Antonucci honored as SWFL Citizen of the Year. - ➤ Warrior Homes of Collier is working to end Veteran homelessness by offering housing, mental health care and education to Veterans in Collier County. The organization runs six properties (with plans to add 20 more beds by year's end) and invites community help as Memorial Day nears. ABC7
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Firefighters battled a 650-acre brush fire in the Picayune Strand State Forest and a 135-acre fire in Golden Gate Estates. The larger blaze, which ignited Monday near Rifle Range Road and saw helicopters drop water, was 45% contained on Tuesday while crews work today to prevent further spread. NBC2

- ➤ Golisano Children’s Museum will open Discovery School this fall to serve 90 Pre K3 and Pre K4 students in a renovated 6,000 sqft space — partly funded by a $1.5 million state award. The center will offer a play-based learning environment that uses museum resources for hands-on educational experiences. News-Press

- ➤ Registration is now open for the 10-day Florida Python Challenge from July 10 to 19, which aims to remove invasive Burmese pythons from eight sites. Naples native Taylor Stanberry, last year’s champion (60 pythons and a $10,000 prize), sets a high bar for this event. Naples Daily News
