- ➤ The bronze sculpture of soaring seagulls was restored and is on display at the Marco Island Historical Museum’s Modern Marco exhibit—this historic piece was commissioned in 1965 by Deltona Corporation, damaged by Hurricane Irma in 2017, and restored in 2024 by the Marco Island Historical Society. - ➤ Hurricane season started June 1 and lasts until November 30; records show that no Category 5 hurricane has hit Southwest Florida even though storms like Hurricane Ian came close — experts say a similar storm is very unlikely.
