- ➤ A man was arrested for allegedly stealing AEDs from Sugden Regional Park and East Naples Community Park — he attempted to sell the devices on Facebook Marketplace for $300 and was taken to Naples Jail Center. NBC2
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Collier County Public Schools broke ground Tuesday on Ave Maria Elementary— the new pre-K to fifth grade campus at 4050 Anthem Parkway is designed to serve about 900 students on 46 acres, create roughly 100 jobs, and function as a hurricane shelter. District leaders said the two-story facility was planned in response to rapid local growth and that a middle school will be built later on the same property, with the elementary scheduled to open in August 2026. - ➤ On May 30, a black bear was seen swimming near a Naples beach when Kylie Nelson and her son spotted the animal during their morning walk—Nelson then called 911 as her son shouted 'Mom, run.' News-Press
- ➤ Florida now lets residents capture, sell, or keep wild green iguanas and humanely kill them on private property after the FWC reversed its 2021 ban last month.
