- ➤ On June 21, a lightning strike near the JW Marriott Island Beach Resort on Marco Island hit a chickee hut and caused minor injuries to beachgoers who were taken by ambulance—emergency crews quickly swept in to secure the area. News-Press

- ➤ The Baker Museum announced that it received a gift of 74 works in glass and ceramics from Naples residents Dr. Laurence and Rita Sibrack, adding to its permanent collection.
