  • Ave Maria celebrated 20 years since its groundbreaking on July 4th and showed strong growth—fulfilling promises beyond its founders’ dreams. Local leaders say the town will keep building on this success for future progress.  The Naples Press
  • Collier County Domestic Animal Services and several South Florida rescue groups are caring for 57 Maine Coon cats and kittens rescued last month from a Marco Island home valued at $1.5 million — the animals now receive the proper protections.  The Naples Press

  • Family Dollar in Immokalee caught fire Friday at 7:58 p.m.—fire crews responded and no road closures were reported as of 8:50 p.m.  NBC2

  • A halftime report shows that many Naples restaurants opened and closed during the first six months of 2025—more changes in the dining scene are expected in the second half.  The Naples Press

CRIME NEWS

  • A scam text message claiming a debit alert from Achieva Credit Union for a Walmart charge of $766.99 is circulating among Southwest Floridians & the message states that recipients are not singled out & caution is advised.  The Naples Press

  • Amy Moglia Heuerman runs Amy Art Gallery + Studio in Naples where visitors see a bright space displaying her abstract and coastal art. Her signature series, The Girls, is drawing very positive reviews + the studio serves as a working space with a reception area and chic salon seating.  The Naples Press

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Students from Collier County pitched business ideas at the Immokalee Foundation's seventh annual Whats Your Pitch event at Florida Gulf Coast University — a four-week camp that ended with cash prizes of $500, $250, and $100 going to winning teams SunState Hangout and PactBrella.  NBC2

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • After more than two decades of planning, Collier County is moving forward with new wastewater and water treatment plants to serve a growing population — the facilities will meet demand from five new villages and towns.  The Naples Press

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • County commissioners unanimously approved amending the growth-management plan to allow 1,299 homes on 227 acres near Fiddler’s Creek — including affordable housing — which will support future development.  The Naples Press

SPORTS NEWS

  • FC Naples and Publix have joined to offer a soccer event for 300 youths in Naples. The organizers will let young players practice and learn from local coaches + boost their skills.  The Naples Press
