  • At the Collier County Courthouse on July 17, Naples residents including Lynn Shearer joined the Good Trouble Lives On demonstration to protest attacks on civil and human rights — the group later marched along Tamiami Trail and received mixed responses.  WGCU
  • In May, a fatal bear attack in rural Collier County reminded locals of Jerome—an area once home to the largest steam-powered lumber mill that burned down in 1956. Records show that nearby Copeland thrived as a base for over 300 workers, while Carnestown served as a key workcamp during Tamiami Trail construction and Miles City developed as a stop for meatpacking families before the industries declined in 1957.  Naples Daily News

  • Naples Comprehensive Health successfully performed the first US procedure using the WiSE CRT System—paired with a right-sided leadless pacemaker—on a long-time patient to treat heart failure.   • Nicole Mercuri, 26, found a rare Megalodon tooth along a local beach and recorded her excitement as she dug it from the sand—her latest discovery after six years of shark tooth hunting, adding to a previous find from 2024.
