LCEC partnered with Meals of Hope and the Guadalupe Center to distribute fresh food and baby products to over 100 families at the Van Otterloo Family Campus for Learning in Immokalee—employees and volunteers from the Power of Us program helped support community programs that sustain neighborhoods.

Dr. Siddharth Narayan said Florida's mangrove forests reduced flood damage during Hurricane Ian in Collier County-saving $62 million and protecting over 8,000 people.

His study found that mangroves cut flood damage by 25% on average statewide and warned that their benefits may change as warming temperatures shift the forests north.

The Florida Python Challenge—running from July 11 to July 20—took place in South Florida to fight invasive Burmese pythons and drew more than 900 hunters from the United States and Canada.
