  • Marco Island police will host a free Bicycle Safety Day and E-Bike Education event at the YMCA of Collier County on August 9—featuring two sessions from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.—with interactive workshops, safety tips and helmet fittings; Island Bicycle Shop and Sun N Fun Sport Rentals will also participate.  ABC7
  • Naples Hooters patrons donated 100 backpacks and $6,000 to the Christmas in July Foundation to help homeless and at-risk public school students in Collier County as classes began. The drive was sponsored by Kitchens by Clay and owner Clay Cox—supporting local students with timely school supplies.  News-Press

  • A vigil to honor five-year-old Jaylen Saintelien takes place today at 8:30 p.m. on Magnolia Pond Drive after the Collier County Sheriff’s Office confirmed his tragic drowning—community members are asked to bring a flashlight for the tribute.  WINK News

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Florida law states a daughter with power of attorney cannot serve on her mother's homeowners association board if bylaws limit directors to owners or their spouses. The law also bars candidates who are behind on dues from running for the board and removes any director more than 90 days delinquent on payments.  News-Press

  • Naples native Johnny King pitched five scoreless innings on Saturday at Hammond Stadium for the Dunedin Blue Jays while Venice native Marek Houston hit a key RBI that helped the Fort Myers Mighty Mussels win 3—2 in extra innings.  NBC2
  • Naples alum Johnny King pitched for the Dunedin Blue Jays on Saturday—allowing no runs in five innings—while recording two hits, two walks, and seven strikeouts against the Mighty Mussels.  Naples Daily News
  • Paradise Coast Sports Complex — home to the tournament — hosted the first-ever girls flag football summer showdown on Saturday where 24 teams from across Florida competed, including five local teams. Tournament organizer Thomas McGuire said plans call for expanding the event in the future to offer more opportunities for high school athletes.  NBC2
