- ➤ The Collier County Sheriff's Office investigated a death after a body was found in the Golden Gate canal on Sunday morning when deputies received a call at 8 a.m. reporting the body near 27th Avenue SW and 39th Street SW (the body was pulled from the canal along Collier Boulevard) and the investigation remains ongoing. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Florida Gulf Coast University and Florida SouthWestern State College have created Destination FGCU to help FSW students transition from an AA degree to a bachelor’s degree. The program offers advising, curriculum guides, and waived fees — guaranteeing admission for most majors while expanding scholarships to support workforce needs. News-Press

- ➤ The My Safe Florida Home grant now lets eligible Southwest Florida homeowners apply for up to $10,000 to boost hurricane safety measures, with a free wind-mitigation inspection required and a licensed contractor needed (the program is backed by a $280 million state allocation). WINK News
- ➤ Drivers on southbound I-75 will face delays as the off-ramp at the Pine Ridge Road interchange is closed overnight August 4th and 5th for work on the county’s first Diverging Diamond Interchange — a $27.5 million project to improve safety and traffic flow. Motorists should follow detour signs using Immokalee Road exit 111 to reach Livingston Road or Santa Barbara/Logan Boulevards. Naples Daily News
