- ➤ A federal judge on August 6 heard arguments that the Alligator Alcatraz detention center in the Everglades may have violated environmental law; environmental groups and the Miccosukee Tribe asked for an injunction until the case is fully reviewed. A separate suit claimed detainee rights were being violated and officials argued the case was filed in the wrong court—no decision was reached. WGCU
