- ➤ The Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation released a new sea turtle update on Saturday showing 868 loggerhead nests, 21 green turtle nests, over 21,261 loggerhead hatchlings and 255 green hatchlings as of August 26. The group urged locals to turn off or shield beach lights after 9 p.m.—steps aimed at protecting hatchlings until the end of October. NBC2
