- ➤ A Bonita Springs fire battalion chief, struck by an SUV while directing traffic during a crash on I-75 near mile marker 116 just after 12:30 a.m. Sunday, showed signs of improvement at Gulf Coast Medical Center—his breathing tube was removed and he briefly spoke to express basic needs. - ➤ On Monday, a house fire in the Golden Gate neighborhood in Naples affected nine people, including four children, and the American Red Cross provided emergency money and health+mental health services to help the family start recovering. WINK News

- ➤ Flaco's Mexican Restaurant and Steak House in Naples is celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month by offering discounted Sizzle Dining and signature guacamole on National Guacamole Day. Owner Matt Nicodemus said the restaurant uses fresh ingredients—avocados and ripe tomatoes—to serve authentic flavors. WINK News

- ➤ AccuWeather has joined Colorado State and NOAA in lowering its forecast for Atlantic hurricane activity—its prediction now drops to 16 named systems with 6 to 9 hurricanes and the same range for major hurricanes. The agency will focus on potential storm development in the Gulf and Southwest Florida as the season continues until November 30. WGCU
- ➤ After 19 days with no named storm, meteorologist Jim Dickey said two tropical disturbances may develop into depressions—one shows a 90% chance while another from Africa remains less likely to form; both systems are expected to stay well east of Florida. ABC7

- ➤ Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier announced on Monday that new guidance makes open carry permissible statewide even though the open carry ban remains on the books following a court ruling that declared the ban unconstitutional and private property owners can still restrict firearms. Lawmakers will vote during the upcoming legislative session to officially change the law. WINK News
