  • A SWFL wealth management firm has rebranded to Florida Trust Wealth Management as it reached its 25th year by merging its Sanibel, Naples and Tampa Bay divisions—this change unifies its market areas while the company continues to expand and renovate its seven offices.   • Family and friends held a memorial Saturday to honor cyclist Bubby who was killed in a hit-and-run at U.S. 41 and Guilford Road in Naples—authorities arrested 42-year-old Jelekzey Gamboa Thiele on charges of leaving the scene of a fatal crash.  WINK News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • A Naples homeowner found a bald eagle tangled in vines and called von Arx Wildlife Hospital—where experts treated its minor wounds and observed it for weeks—before releasing it back into the wild last week. The hospital, the only dedicated wildlife rehab facility in Collier County, treats thousands of injured animals each year.  WGCU

  • Hurricanes can cause strong anxiety and trauma that lead to flashbacks, hypervigilance and other signs of post-traumatic stress—effects that may last over a month for residents still recovering from past storms. Local experts advise seeking professional help, reducing media exposure and finding community support to manage these symptoms.  Naples Daily News
  • Paxton West, a 15-year-old Naples teen, suffered a stroke four hours after a 12-hour heart transplant surgery and was taken off life support until he started talking again. His mother said he faces a long recovery & his family remains determined as they support his progress.  Fox 4

  • Home sellers in Collier County saw the median list price drop to $699,000 in August from $717,000 in July and $749,999 a year earlier. Listings stayed on the market for 120 days while new listings fell to 892—indicating a slower housing market.  Naples Daily News

  • Charlie Woods, a Benjamin School junior and son of Tiger Woods, played at the South Florida PGA Junior Golf West Coast High School Championship on Sept. 27 at the TwinEagles Talon Course in Naples and finished tied for fourth with a 4-under total score of 140—his score helped the Benjamin team win the event among 16 schools.  Naples Daily News
  • FC Naples secured a USL League One playoff berth with a 4 to 0 win over AV Alta FC Saturday at Paradise Coast Sports Complex—making them the third team in league history to reach the playoffs in its first season. Jayden Onen, Kevin O’Connor, Julian Cisneros, and Ian Cerro scored, and coach Mark Poland said the team must work hard for a top-four finish and a postseason home game in Southwest Florida.  NBC2
  • Cypress Lake beat Estero in a close district football game on September 26th when Panthers’ Adrian Burdette—wearing number 5—scored the winning touchdown late in the fourth quarter to finish the game 25—23.  News-Press
  • Week Six high school football in Southwest Florida saw standout plays from Jayden Petit with his nine catches, 300 yards and 3 touchdowns; Jamar Jerome scored four touchdowns in a 49-7 win, while players from Cypress Lake and Riverdale also impressed. Local fans must cast their votes by 9 a.m. on Tuesday—then the winner will be announced at 6 p.m.  NBC2
