- ➤ City leaders plan to demolish the damaged Naples Pier—hit by Hurricane Ian and later storms—and rebuild it as soon as the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers issues the permit, using more than $12.6 million in FEMA funds as part of a $26 million project. Demolition will take six months and construction of the new, resilient pier will last 18 months. Naples Daily News
- ➤ PawsFest will be held Saturday at Baker Park where local pet owners can bring leashed dogs to receive free services—such as microchipping, nail trims and a pup cup—and enjoy food trucks and coffee while rescue groups show animals for adoption. Event organizer Kate Mindak from Naples Police Patrol Operations said the event will highlight the department’s K—9s and promote foster programs to help crowded shelters. WGCU
