- ➤ Supporters celebrated the ongoing construction of a community center at an affordable housing project in Immokalee on Oct. 16—its completion is expected in February while more apartment buildings will come online soon. Naples Daily News
- ➤ Meals of Hope will hold its final Happy Hour for Hope on Monday, October 27 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Paddy Murphy’s Irish Pub at Marco Town Center on Marco Island; free appetizers, happy hour drink prices, and a 50-50 drawing will support a November 8 food packaging event to pack 200,000 meals with a suggested $20 donation. - ➤ Naples’ own Dan Petrosini, a USA Today best-selling mystery writer, will transform Nosh on the Bay into a live crime scene where cocktail guests become suspects in an original mystery — inviting an afternoon of suspense. Florida Weekly
- ➤ The Players Circle Theater (on McGregor Boulevard) is getting ready to show 'Rumors', a play about a deputy mayor who shot himself and whose wife went missing. The play also follows four couples at an anniversary party when secrets come out, as director Robert Cacioppo guides local actors in a fast-paced performance. WINK News

- ➤ Coastal Watch launched the Adopt-A-Mangrove program inviting Southwest Florida residents to grow mangrove seedlings at home before planting them at local restoration sites. The event begins tomorrow at Bailey Homestead Preserve from 9 to 11 a.m.—participants will receive starter kits with a seedling, soil and a pot. WINK News

- ➤ Allergy symptoms in Southwest Florida occur every day because allergens like trees—dust mites, mold and pet dander are always around. Dr. Todd Lindquist of Precision Healthcare Specialists says people who use over-the-counter medicines for more than 30 days without relief should see a doctor for testing and treatment. - ➤ Lee Health launched a free cancer support community in August to help patients, families and caregivers in Southwest Florida, and on Thursday support members and program managers explained in a studio interview how the program works—making it the only one of its kind between Sarasota and Miami. - ➤ Publix voluntarily recalled one lot of its Rich & Creamy Vanilla Ice Cream after it was found that an undeclared egg allergen could put sensitive customers at risk—customers may return the product for a full refund and it was removed from store shelves in Florida and other states. NBC2
- ➤ The FDA warned Florida residents not to use certain ground cinnamon products with high lead levels—recalls have been active since 2024. A Consumer Reports investigation on Oct 15 found that many popular protein powders have lead levels above safe limits—experts advise using these products sparingly or not at all. Naples Daily News
