- ➤ Southwest Florida will host many Veterans Day events with parades, ceremonies, a 5K run, and a new Veterans History Museum grand opening in Naples on November 11—attendees in Marco Island, Bonita Springs, and other areas can join free community celebrations featuring speeches, music, and special activities. ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Crews in Collier County began mobilizing heavy equipment at Clam Pass Park in Naples for a sand reclamation project that will clear a clogged inlet and rebuild dunes to address erosion from last year's storms—helping restore the local shoreline. The project covers 2,000 feet of beach, will replant mangroves, and is expected to finish by early next year. WINK News
- ➤ November's supermoon will appear up to 14% larger and 30% brighter when it reaches its closest approach tomorrow at 8:19 a.m. Observers may see the moon starting Tuesday night, though clouds in southern areas could affect views & later meteor showers may be harder to spot. News-Press
- ➤ The Conservancy of Southwest Florida reported that sea turtles on Keewaydin Island had a better nesting season this year with 558 nests, including three green turtle nests and 555 loggerhead nests, and over 38,000 hatchlings emerged into the Gulf. Last year, tropical storms reduced nesting success with about 15,000 hatchlings emerging as nearly 43 percent of nests were lost. WGCU
- ➤ The Florida panther, our state animal, was filmed roaming the Corkscrew Regional Ecosystem Watershed by Tom Mortenson using game cameras. Proposed developments in Lee and Collier counties may cut off key travel corridors—and these changes could threaten the panther’s habitat. Naples Daily News

- ➤ Senior veterans in Collier County are getting mental health and substance use support as the David Lawrence Centers for Behavioral Health has been awarded a $25,000 grant from the Senior Friendship Centers Foundation. The grant money will pay for case management that links veterans with center programs and outside resources—including housing and benefits. NBC2
- ➤ Lee Health’s Auxiliary marks 75 years of service after 30 local women, known as the Pink Ladies, started the group with a first donation of $1,232 to help care for patients and raise funds; today the group supports several facilities with money raised through gift shop—coffee bar sales and special events that have reached over $11.5 million. This long-standing support has helped improve patient care and bring new medical technology to our community. Naples Daily News
