COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Today, Collier County residents are urged to drop off new unwrapped toys for the annual Christmas toy drive led by the Salvation Army in partnership with Toys for Tots—over 150 donation boxes will be available countywide. The drive continues until Dec. 12 with toys welcome at sites across the area, including the Salvation Army Toy Shop on Tamiami Trail N.  WGCU

BUSINESS NEWS

  • A United Launch Alliance Atlas V rocket carrying the Viasat 3 F2 satellite will launch today from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station at 10:24 p.m. ET with a 44 minute window—people in Naples and Fort Myers may see the rocket if weather and cloud cover allow.  News-Press

  • The Museum of Whimsy in Naples will reopen this November and offer a busy schedule—four new exhibitions will open, two will close, and 23 will continue their runs across local museums.  WGCU

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Florida's public water needs will rise 22% by 2040 and experts say there is not enough groundwater to meet demand. In Bonita Springs, BSU warns that rising development may block water from reaching deep aquifers — a threat to clean water.  WGCU

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Lee County Board of County Commissioners awarded $4.4 million in SHIP grants on Tuesday to local partners to support affordable housing for 45 very low and 29 low-income households (41 include individuals with special needs). Funds will pay for down payment assistance, housing rehabilitation and new rental construction.  WINK News

HEALTH NEWS

  • The Multiple Sclerosis Center of Southwest Florida is hosting a free symposium in Estero tomorrow for people living with MS and their caregivers that will feature expert panel discussions, free breakfast and lunch, and a comedy show—board member Mollie Venglar said it aims to provide supportive education.  WGCU
  • The Department of Business and Professional Regulation inspected Collier County restaurants from Oct. 20 to 26, 2025 and found seven Naples restaurants—including Detroit Pizza Joint and Prime Reserve Social—earned perfect health scores while Andre's Steakhouse and Marek's Collier House had high priority violations, prompting follow-up actions to protect public safety.  Naples Daily News
