- ➤ Harry Chapin Food Bank has launched a Thanksgiving drive to collect wrapped, frozen turkeys and hams for agency partners serving local families in need. Donations will be accepted weekdays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. until Nov. 20 — at centers in Lee County on 3760 Fowler St. in Fort Myers and in Collier County on 3940 Prospect Ave., Unit 101 in Naples. - ➤ Meals of Hope celebrated a ribbon cutting ceremony on November 6 at its new 18,000-square-foot warehouse and food hub at 4176 Mercantile Avenue in Naples, and Mayor Teresa Lee Heitmann proclaimed November as Meals of Hope Month to honor nearly 20 years of service. The nonprofit's Hunger to Hope capital campaign has raised $2.3 million toward a $4.5 million goal to expand food distribution to 4,000 families served weekly from 14 pantry locations—highlighting its ongoing commitment to community hunger relief. - ➤ The Seminole-operated Ah-Tah-Thi-Ki Museum in Big Cypress hosts the American Indigenous Arts Celebration today and Saturday. - ➤ City leaders approved a full rebuild of the long-standing Cambier Park playground after safety concerns closed it last month. The new design will feature natural play elements and treehouse-style features—replacing mulch with rubberized surfacing, adding more shade for parents, and considering new surveillance cameras—with a project budget of $2 million. - ➤ Northbound lanes on North Collier Blvd were reduced to one lane at the intersection of Collier Blvd and Barfield Drive starting November 6 and will remain that way until year end, which may slow afternoon traffic for drivers leaving the Island. The $4.7-million project by Coastal Concrete Products will replace water lines and add new traffic signals and sidewalks—aiming to make the intersection safer over the next year. Coastal Breeze News
