- ➤ Food drives are being promoted to help address rising hunger in Southwest Florida as more families face food insecurity. Richard LeBer of the Harry Chapin Food Bank said community groups can launch a drive by setting a donation goal and sharing drop-off details (Naples center open 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. weekdays). News-Press
- ➤ An Episcopal church parishioner in Sarasota offered a $200,000 matching gift to help families with food, rent and utilities affected by the government shutdown — every donation will be matched through his church's outreach ministry. The Diocese of Venice also ran its Share the Harvest food drive at local pantry sites to aid more than 3,600 individuals and families each month. WGCU

- ➤ Small businesses and private nonprofits hit by the February drought can apply for low-interest federal disaster loans until Dec. 8—loans of up to $2 million offer fixed rates as low as 4% and terms up to 30 years.
