COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Shoppers and store owners recently celebrated the opening of the new Balcony Boutiques above Tony’s Off Third on Third Street South, where Books on Third and expanded La Bonne Vie Pop-Up Shops offer fresh choices, while Daniella Ortiz Naples held an elegant event on Nov. 12. The historic street will close at 3 p.m. on Nov. 24 for Santa’s arrival at 6:15 p.m. before the tree lighting and snowfall begin at 6:20 p.m.  Florida Weekly
  • The STARability Foundation broke ground today on its new campus for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities on a five-acre site off Northbrooke Drive near I-75 and Immokalee Rd—bolstered by a $10 million commitment from billionaire Tom Golisano—and will expand its programs with a state-of-the-art facility scheduled to open late 2026. This project is set to triple the number of people the organization serves annually.  Fox 4

CULTURE NEWS

  • Naples is set for a busy weekend with live music, theater and comedy. The American Misfits tour runs Nov. 21-23 at Off The Hook Comedy Club — The Freebirds tribute plays on Nov. 21 at Founders Square — Treaty Oak Revival performs on Nov. 22 at Hertz Arena — and local theaters show 'Little Women: The Musical' along with a final run of 'Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?' until Nov. 23.  Naples Daily News
  • Naples Botanical Garden spans 170 acres with over 1,000 plant species and seasonal exhibits highlighting diverse natural habitats. The Garden hosts the annual Johnsonville Night Lights holiday display which runs Nov. 28—Jan. 4, closing on Dec. 24, Dec. 25, and Dec. 31, and also features events like Dia de los Muertos and a yearly flower show.  News-Press

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife released its first great blue heron in 2025 after days of rehab—after treatment for red tide symptoms, the bird was rescued from a retention pool and returned to J.N. Ding Darling National Wildlife Refuge on Nov. 16.  ABC7

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Collier County Sheriff's Office said drivers near Tiburón Golf Club — including Vanderbilt Beach Road, Airport Pulling Road, 3000 Orange Blossom Boulevard and Livingston Road — should plan for heavy traffic until Nov. 23 as a golf tournament closed to the public until Nov. 20 will bring extra vehicles during busy hours of 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 5 to 7 p.m.  ABC7

HEALTH NEWS

  • Lee Health's Teaching Kitchen at Coconut Point earned national recognition after joining the Teaching Kitchen Collaborative and offers healthy cooking classes for $5 each twice or three times per month — Registered Dietitian Aikaterina Galeos leads demonstrations of healthier sweet treats with samples served for participants to try.  WGCU

SPORTS NEWS

  • Lottie Woad, a former FSU standout, turned pro four months ago and won her debut event at the Scottish Open to qualify for the CME Group Tour Championship. The 21 year old earned her tour card through the LPGA Elite Amateur Pathway program and now plans to learn Florida driving rules as she adjusts to life on the LPGA Tour — a challenge as she seeks her driver license.  Naples Daily News
  • Jeeno Thitikul, the world number one golfer who won $4 million at the CME Group Tour Championship last year, returns to Tiburon today as the favorite with a 12:40 p.m. tee time — she joked that her biggest purchase was a Mercedes Benz and said that Disney tickets were expensive.  Naples Daily News
  • Naples voters can cast their vote for the preseason girls soccer player of the year in Collier and Lee County as the poll closes on Nov. 23 at 10 a.m. The contest spotlights top seniors and promising underclassmen (aiming to replace graduates from last season) for the upcoming season.  Naples Daily News
