- ➤ The STARability Foundation celebrated the groundbreaking of its new campus at 2655 Northbrooke Drive in Naples—unveiling the Golisano Program Center—on November 20th. The foundation currently serves over 370 individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities with an average of 75 attending daily programs. ABC7
- ➤ Russell Budd, founder of PBS Contractors, won the 2025 Murray Hendel Civic Achievement Award on Nov. 6 at Naples Hilton — he was honored for building a stronger community through his business leadership and civic efforts. Florida Weekly

- ➤ After nearly 50 years serving fresh, high-quality seafood—an enduring tradition—The Dock at Crayton Cove unveiled its refreshed brand and updated menu Monday, Nov. 17. - ➤ Two new grocery stores opened in Golden Gate Estates, giving residents quicker access to groceries. Publix (Oil Well Road) is the community’s second store and Aldi (Immokalee Road) is Collier County’s fifth, cutting travel time for locals. WINK News

- ➤ Louise Cornetta will perform her one-woman show Erma Bombeck: At Wit's End at Fort Myers Theatre on November 28 at 7 p.m., with additional shows on November 29 at 2 and 6 p.m. and November 30 at 2 p.m.—the performance offers a comic look at the humorist's legacy. WGCU
- ➤ Wicked: For Good will hit screens at the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema in Naples on Nov.22 at 3:30 p.m.—moviegoers will enjoy themed treats, special food and drinks, and a chance to win gift cards with a photo contest. Directed by Jon M. Chu and starring Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, the film continues the untold Oz story with an immersive theater experience. NBC2
- ➤ Ghostbird Theatre Company opens its season today at FGCU Buckingham campus with Swamped, a site-specific play by Adelaide Fisher directed by Amanda Collins that requires walking and bringing chairs and mosquito repellent—details that set it apart. A second performance will be held November 22—gates open at 7 and the show starts at 7:30 p.m. WGCU
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Moderate drought has expanded in Southwest Florida, affecting Desoto, Charlotte, Lee, Glades, Hendry and parts of Collier. The dry season has led to up to 24 days without measurable rain in Fort Myers and Naples—rain chances remain slim over the next week with isolated showers expected near Thanksgiving. WINK News

- ➤ The Florida Public Service Commission approved a new four-year rate plan for FPL that will raise the typical 1,000-kWh residential bill from $134.14 to $136.64—an increase of about $2.50 per month—with the new rates taking effect Jan. 1 for 2026 through 2029. WGCU

- ➤ Collier County officials met at the Golden Gate Community Center on Thursday to share early details of the Golden Gate Parkway Corridor Congestion Study that examines heavy traffic from east of Airport–Pulling Road to west of Santa Barbara Boulevard. Engineers are reviewing traffic counts, crash records and travel times while planning fixes at the busy Livingston Road intersection and I-75 ramp area—steps that could ease congestion—with the study set to wrap in July and residents able to share concerns until December 4. - ➤ More than 120 people attended the Built to Last: Men's Health and Wellness Summit on November 8 at the Hilton Naples where eight physicians and researchers discussed prostate health, cancer prevention and treatment options—urging men to adopt lifestyle changes to improve their overall well-being. - ➤ Naples Beach Club reopened today as a Four Seasons Resort that blends modern luxury with heritage elements—featuring 220 rooms, 57 suites, five dining venues and a full-service spa—and restores public access to over 1,000 feet of Gulf shoreline with the return of HB’s and the Sunset Bar. The redevelopment also includes 153 luxury residences along the beach and golf course, a redesigned 18-hole course due in 2026 and more than 104 acres in conservation easement developed in partnership with Discovery Land Company.
