Here's your local news at a glance for Sunday, the 30th of November.
Good morning, Naples.
🎭 Culture
Local reporters recommend enjoying the holiday season with events like a nighttime run by the Marco Island Christmas tree at Veteran's Community Park and Holiday Nights at Edison Estates—both popular choices in Southwest Florida.
They also advise outdoor paddling at Everglades National Park and the 19th Annual Festival of Trees at Sidney & Berne Davis Art Center, which begins Dec. 4, will bring festive fun—continuing cherished local traditions.
📰 Economy
A new poll from the James Madison Institute shows that 52% of Florida voters support data center development, with rural Southwest Florida voters nearly three times more supportive than those in urban tech hubs.
Data centers will create about 1,700 construction jobs and many high-paying positions, while special rate plans ensure that these facilities cover their full infrastructure costs — keeping bills stable for residents.
🏈 Sports
Riverdale beat Manatee 28-26 on Friday night—earning its first trip to the state semifinals after Manatee missed the game-winning kick in the final seconds.
The Raiders improved to 12-1 and will play their semifinal opponent next weekend.
