- ➤ The City of Naples will host its Christmas Parade on Tuesday, Dec. 9 at 6:30 p.m. The parade will travel from Third Street South to City Hall and close streets from 3 p.m. with parking available (via city-operated garages) until roads reopen by 2 a.m. on Dec. 10. Naples Daily News
- ➤ On Friday morning, Naples leaders, firefighters, and families gathered downtown to unveil Christensen Way near Fire Station 1 in memory of firefighter Anthony (Tony) Christensen, a 22-year veteran who died in 2020 after battling COVID. The new naming honors his service and lasting legacy in the community. WINK News
- ➤ Naples Grande Beach Resort will build a new water park soon as local residents and city leaders raise concerns over the project. The proposal could change the area if approved. Naples Daily News
- ➤ The Collier County Salvation Army has transformed a former Rooms To Go store into a holiday toy shop in Naples to help local families this Christmas season—so far 6,000 applications have been submitted and the shop needs 21,000 more toys from community business collection boxes. WINK News
- ➤ Volunteers in Naples are preparing to send over 16,000 handwritten holiday-cards to veterans at more than 250 facilities across 10 states, continuing a tradition started by Renee Whisner. Local VFW Auxiliary members meet weekly and will deliver the cards for veterans in hospitals, nursing homes and clinics this holiday season. WINK News

- ➤ FGCU’s PGA-accredited golf management program pairs students with local PGA professionals for mentorship and paid internships in Southwest Florida, giving graduates hands-on experience in the local golf industry. Naples Daily News
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission has set up its first black bear hunt since 2015, which begins today in approved areas in Collier, Lee, and Hendry counties. The hunt will end on Dec. 28 or once the quota is reached. WINK News
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Suffolk and the Lee County Port Authority celebrated topping off Phase 2 of the Southwest Florida International Airport terminal expansion — workers placed the final steel beam on Dec. 5. The project will add a 14‐gate concourse, retail space and airfield improvements to boost capacity. WGCU

- ➤ Developers Tony Oliverio and Gary Van Cleef plan to build a 100-room hotel on a 1.3-acre parcel near Winn-Dixie on Marco Island if city officials do not respond to their proposal by year-end — they offered to return cemetery land to the church that sold it in 2006. Naples Daily News
