- ➤ Christmas lights are shining across Collier County as residents explore an interactive map to view decorated homes, businesses, and venue displays for the holiday season. The map covers displays in Naples, Marco Island, Bonita Springs and other areas and will be updated throughout the season. Naples Daily News
- ➤ The YMCA of Collier County launches its annual Giving Tree program, inviting neighbors to brighten local families' holidays by donating gifts+gift cards and other items; drop-offs are accepted at the South Campus by Dec. 10 and the North Campus by Dec. 14. Florida Weekly

- ➤ Gulf Coast News was honored with five Suncoast Emmy Awards over the weekend, recognizing its reporters, meteorologists and producers – including Jim Dickey for Weather Anchor for the second straight year. The awards highlight strong local news performance. NBC2

- ➤ Florida public schools will begin winter break on Monday, Dec. 22 with most students returning on Monday, Jan. 5. Counties may vary in their schedule (check your school district for details). News-Press

- ➤ New World Warblers, called (butterflies of the bird world), are common winter residents in south Florida. Local bird watchers spot Palm, Yellow-rumped, and Black-and-white Warblers and note that watching them can sometimes cause temporary 'warbler neck.' WGCU
- ➤ Audubon needs volunteer bird spotters to join the Christmas Bird Count from Dec. 14 to Jan. 5 (teams led by Sally Stein at Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary in Southwest Florida) to gather data that will help protect bird populations. WGCU

- ➤ Lee Health celebrates 10 years of its Healthy Life Center at Coconut Point Mall, hosting over 2,500 programs and serving more than 27,000 residents with free screenings and guidance. - ➤ A Heart Walk fundraiser will take place on Saturday, Dec. 13 at Baker Park in Naples where 3,000 participants will walk to raise funds for lifesaving research and CPR training.
