- ➤ Habitat for Humanity of Collier County completed the final wall on a new home for a Naples family in the 109-home Majestic Place community (the milestone also launched a partnership with Cars on Fifth to support future affordable housing projects). WINK News

- ➤ The Coast Guard suspended its search Monday for two missing boaters after a four-day operation covering 6,700 square miles off Naples & recovering their 42-foot vessel adrift near Marco Island. News-Press

- ➤ Twelve upcoming concerts are planned for 2026 at local venues in Naples + Fort Myers. The shows will offer diverse music experiences for fans across SW Florida. News-Press
- ➤ Southwest Florida will host over 40 outdoor art fairs and festivals from December 27 to April with events ranging from small boutique shows to large gatherings. ArtFest Fort Myers is expected to draw 90,000 visitors and the Cape Coral Art Festival could attract 140,000 attendees. WGCU

- ➤ Collier County Public Schools honored Reinhold Schmieding of Arthrex with the Margie Davidson Leading Light Award on Dec. 4 during the 80th Joint Conference in Tampa (Arthrex moved its headquarters to Naples in 1991 and supports local education through career pathways and scholarships). ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Researchers tracking great white shark Ernst report the 12 foot, 1,009 pound animal has pinged 22 times near Naples and Marco Island since Nov. 18. It was tagged by OCEARCH to study its migration along Southwest Florida coast. News-Press
- ➤ Starting Jan. 1, Florida waters will be closed to gray triggerfish harvesting in Gulf state waters and to shallow-water grouper in Atlantic state waters (including Monroe County) to protect spawning fish, with gray triggerfish reopening March 1 and grouper fishing resuming May 1. NBC2

- ➤ City of Naples will hold a groundbreaking ceremony on Monday, Jan. 5, at 10 a.m. at the 12th Avenue South beach access to mark the start of the Naples Pier rebuild, funded with over $11.4 million in FEMA grants; demolition takes six months, construction is expected to take 18 months.
