- ➤ Florida Highway Patrol troopers arrested a man on Wednesday morning after he fled on foot following a hit-and-run on Interstate 75 near mile marker 122—his truck smashed into a Chrysler that closed the left lane and caused injuries now under investigation. WINK News
- ➤ Collier deputies responded to an active shooter call at Regal Movie Theater on Hollywood Drive in North Naples just before 9:30 p.m. Tuesday and evacuated the building, later determining the threat was a hoax—FWC officers assisted during the response. WINK News

- ➤ The Naples Philharmonic, active for 43 years with 54 full-time musicians, puts on about 180 shows a year that span classical, pops and movie soundtracks. New artistic director Alexander Shelley leads the upcoming season, which opens Oct 30 with concerts including pianist Gabriela Montero performing Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2—demonstrating its strong financial and artistic performance. - ➤ A Collier County bike rental store in Marco Island opened at 8 a.m. Wednesday with new e‑bike rules that limit speeds to 12 mph on sidewalks or shared-use paths and require audible signals when passing pedestrians—officials explained that riders under 16 are banned from operating Class 3 e‑bikes as they work with the Marco Island Police Department to clarify penalties.
