  • Collier County’s Purradise Gardens, a no kill cat shelter caring for nearly 250 cats, faces eviction if it does not raise $11,500 for a septic repair in 10 days. Owner Megan Sorbara said the online fundraiser has reached about $3,000 so far—urgent support is needed to keep the shelter open.  WINK News
  • The Third Annual Rhinestone Rodeo will be held at the Island Country Club on January 4 from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. It will benefit Our Daily Bread Food Pantry—featuring live music by the Back Country Boys and an auction led by Rick Gallo.  Coastal Breeze News
  • The 7th Annual Rookery Bay Classic Car Show and Craft Fair will take place Saturday, November 15 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the FSW campus at 7505 Grand Lely Drive, presented by Carter Fence. ECONOMY NEWS

  • Southwest Florida is in a construction boom with projects like a 24-floor condo in Lee County built by about 100 workers on schedule — however, the industry faces a looming shortage as over 21,000 construction workers are expected to retire in the next decade. Manhattan Construction Company's Robbie Tiedeman said local schools and recruitment efforts are preparing the next generation as Florida’s Economic Opportunity Department projects 11% growth in construction jobs by 2032.  NBC2

  • Residents and local business owners attended a public workshop on Thursday to share concerns about overdevelopment and resiliency for the Naples 2045 Comprehensive Plan. City planners said they would use the input plus comments on rising living costs and flood risks to shape future growth and preserve the city’s small-town feel.  Fox 4

HEALTH NEWS

  • A new U.S. News—World Report analysis using Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services data rated top nursing homes in SWFL for both short-term rehabilitation and long-term care. In Collier County, six facilities including Solaris Senior Living North Naples earned high marks, while Lee County had nine top performers.  News-Press
